I think we can all agree that we love fall. I mean, what isn’t there to love? Pumpkins and football games and corn mazes and bonfires and smores and apple orchards and candles and apple cider donuts and vests and boots and sweaters and scarves and apple pie and Thanksgiving and wow. I love everything about it. This past week’s heat wave has caused me to want fall even more because I am over this 100 weather. I want to cozy up with a candle and a book. So, in honor of me prematurely desiring Fall, let’s dive into what fall trends we’ll be seeing out on the streets in the next few months.
1. Plaid is King
If you haven’t seen this coming, you’ve been living under a rock. The comeback of Cher Horowitz’s yellow plaid outfit has been creeping back into our daily lives and its only foreshadowing the plaid to come. I feel like plaid always has its moment in fall, but this time, I think it’s going a to take a stronger stand this Autumn.
2. Suiting
I love a good blazer, especially when its paired with a good pair of dark wash denim for that stepped up level of business casual. What I think we’re going to see is a variation of typical suiting pieces, in a different way. You can already see it happening with dresses/sets like these.
3. Crocodile + Leopard Prints
I have always loved a good crocodile print. I have it on shoes, on bags, on shirts, and I think it’s going to play an even bigger role in the fashion scene come this fall. Dare I may say, will animal prints have a comeback???
Leopard has been popping up more and more recently and I can only imagine it’s going to continue as we step into fall. I’m not sure the neon zebra bodycon dresses are coming back, but more modest, feminine pieces have been seen with a chic leopard print on them and I’m excited.
4. Wrap Tops
I’m not sure if it’s just me, but I am LOVING wrap tops lately and I know that that love is only going to grow stronger once the cooler weather hits. Fall doesn’t have to be all sweaters and no fun and that’s right where this top steps in. Its the perfect top for date night or just stepping up your game a little. It absolutely looks stunning on everyone, big or small chested, and you need one. Take a peek at some of my favorites from ASOS below!
5. Capes
I love a good cape. And I am very excited for these to make a comeback. They are just so easy to throw on over a sweater and you look like you’re straight off the plane from Paris. Just such an easy elegance. Not only as a separate piece, but I think we’ll see capes worked into pieces like dresses or tops for a new twist on things.
The Trends You Want to Stay Away From?
- Foil. No one wants to be a disco ball in the middle of the street.
- Neon. Its trendy. It will go back out of style soon.
- Extremely Oversize Coats. Just don’t do it. We can’t all be runway models.
